„Jestem zwolennikiem żelaznej dyscypliny i metody, ale każde prawdziwe dzieło sztuki musi mieć świeżość, musi być zaśpiewane, a nie wydukane. I tu znów trudność, jeśli chcemy zastosować to szkolarskie przeciwstawienie: abstrakcja – realizm. Są obrazy abstrakcyjne, które porażają chłodem i nieskończoną nudą, że wspomnę przykładowo kompozycje Herbina. Jestem zdecydowanym przeciwnikiem takiej wyspekulowanej abstrakcji. Ale Mondrian ze swymi ścisłymi układami form jest dla mnie wielce sympatycznym malarzem. Widziałem jego wystawę na Biennale. Od tych, z pozoru zimnych, układów kompozycyjnych emanowała wielka pogoda. W kwadraty Mondriana wchodzi oko jak do ogrodu”. Tadeusz Dominik
