„Po 1970 Chwałczyk konsekwentnie zajmował się problematyką światła, studiował optykę i budował obiekty, w których istotą było wywoływanie zjawisk świetlno-barwnych, dążył także do stworzenia sytuacji, w której ‘światło białe i barwa staną się jednością, kolor będzie światłem, światło barwą, a cień przestanie istnieć’ . Artysta tworzył własną przestrzeń, aby uzyskać poszukiwaną przez siebie ‘światło-barwę’”. Miłosz Thiede
