"It wasn't an easy time for art. As students who arrived at the university shortly after martial law, when access to art was limited and official galleries were boycotted, it was difficult for us to come to terms with the situation. Internally, we rebelled against this stagnation. I think that at that time we all felt a great need for new art, which was also an attempt to break away from the grim reality. At the university, there was talk of Neue Wilde, but there were few available examples of works or even mentions in the press. We were in a bit of competition with each other, especially with a group of colleagues from the neighboring studio; we sought sources of inspiration within ourselves and among ourselves."
